What Are Good Work From Home Companies?
by Jay
(Grand Rapids, MI)
I want to quit my nightmare of a job and work from home but I don't know where to look for at home employment. Right now, I'm working in customer service for a major company. I don't want to give the company name, but it ends in "mart".
I'm hoping you can help me with my search by leading me to some good work from home companies.
Thanks in advance.

You didn't say why you consider your current position to be a nightmare. If you're willing to remain in a customer service job, there are companies that hire people to work customer service over the phone and online.
You would be working from a dedicated home office. Most of these companies require that you have a quiet room with a separate phone line in your home. You would be their employee and they would provide a benefits package.

will provide you with a list of such companies.
If you want to get out of customer service, there are also sales positions you can work from home.
If you are open to the idea of being an independent contractor, there are many more opportunities. ICs do not work for a guaranteed salary. They are usually paid by the hour or by the assignment.
Depending on what type of work they do, they can get long term contracts with the businesses they contract with or they may just go from assignment to assignment sort of like a temporary worker.
I worked as an IC for 6 or 7 years. I had a couple of long-term contracts so the money was predictable. I also worked on a pay per assignment basis. That is harder because it is almost impossible to predict how much you will make from month to month.
I worked for a local craft business and a local clothing business helping them to assemble their products. You can read about how I obtained these positions on this page :Assemble Products At Home.
I also did some Freelance Writing where I was paid for each article.
If you want to do freelance work, most of the freelance sites are legit. Just about all of the free ones are. I don't like to endorse one over the others. It's just a matter of checking a few out and deciding where you fit in.
A lot of people enjoy Mystery Shopping. It probably won't replace your current income, but it can provide a nice supplement to whatever else you decide to pursue. Companies Looking For Secret Shoppers will help you get started.
Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
