Virtual Assistant Employment

All the information you need about virtual assistant employment opportunities is here, including pay rates. Start your virtual assistant career today!

Just sign up at Elance.com, Guru.com or Odesk.com to gain access to all the virtual assistant employment you could want.

There's no charge to join any of these sites. They make their money by deducting a small percentage from the fee the employer pays you. The payment terms are spelled out very clearly on each site.

Companies Offering Virtual Assistant Employment

  • Office Details- VAs and Virtual Concierges

  • VIP Desk- Concierge and virtual call center jobs

  • Team Double Click- The "current job openings" page is hard to read

  • Virtual Assistant Rates of Pay

Most employers pay by the hour. Some pay by the job. The pay rates encompass a wide range from $5 - $35 per hour.

My advice: Go to each site and look at the virtual assistant profiles to get an idea of what other VAs with similar skills are charging.

Skills Needed To Succeed In A Virtual Assistant Position:

Companies will sometimes hire one VA for several of their employees and sometimes even their clients to share. Versatility and strong people skills are a must.

It may be best to specialize in just a few different types of assignments--the things you do best--so you can build your reputation for doing quality work quickly. Once that happens and you have lots of positive feedback from employers your virtual assistant career will take off.

If you prefer not to work through a freelance web site, you may be able to obtain a virtual assistant position with a VA service. You would be working for someone who had started their own virtual assistant home business.

They will go to the trouble and expense of finding clients. Then they will assign projects to the VAs working for them and pay for that work. At a lower rate than what they are charging the client, of course. The difference between what they pay you and what they collect from the client is their profit.

Accepting employment through one of these services is a good way to start your career. But eventually, I think starting a virtual assistant business is much more lucrative.
