Trade Penny Stocks without Fear
Learn to trade penny stocks profitably. These 5 penny stock trading strategies will increase the upside potential and minimize the downside risk of any online penny stock trade you execute.
Much of the money I have made in the stock market has been made by swing trading penny stock. Now, it is possible to
make consistent gains trading big board stocks
while taking on much less risk. So why do I continue to trade penny stock?
Greed.
I enjoy taking the big gains that I often realize when I trade penny stock online. My goal with a big board stock is to take a 10-30% gain. I can often realize 50% or more when penny stock swing trading.
You’ll notice I said 50% not 500%.
This is one of the keys to successful online penny stock trading. Keep your greed under control!
Making a 50% return on your investment in a few days or weeks is phenomenal. If you hang in for that 500% you will be taking on a lot more risk. Penny stocks fall as quickly as they rise.
It’s better to get out with a sure gain than to hang in and risk getting stuck holding your shares after the smarter traders have all sold.
Reasons Not to Buy Penny Stocks
I recently came across a blog post written by someone who had obviously been burned trading penny stocks. He listed the reasons why traders should avoid penny stocks like the stock market plague he believes them to be.
His reasons were valid.
They all made perfect sense.
I’m sure lots of people who attempt to buy and trade penny stock shares, in the fashion he laid out, will be as badly hurt as he was and reach the same conclusions he did.
But this doesn’t have to happen.
That is why I want to address 5 of the penny stock pitfalls outlined in that blog post and give you 5 penny stock trading strategies to combat them.
#1 - Because a stock broker can charge a higher commission on penny stock trades, they may urge you to buy penny stocks for this reason.
This is absolutely valid and the advice I am going to give here applies not just to penny stock trades but to all stock market trading.
The blogger raised another concern closely related to the first one:
#2 - Your stock broker may not want you to sell the shares when you wish to and may put up some resistance.
In order to avoid this whole scenario, I stopped letting other people place my buy and sell orders years ago. It’s just not worth going through all the rigamarole. I place my own stock market orders through an
online discount broker
and I’ve never been happier.
#3 - There is a dearth of penny stock research info available.
This is true of the vast majority of penny shares but not of all of them. If you can’t unearth enough reliable information about a company to make an educated decision about trading it, don't.
Enough said?
#4 - Penny stock prices are easily manipulated because they trade on such thin volumes.
Again, this is true of most penny stocks but not all of them. Finding a hot penny stock is like going on a treasure hunt. You’ve got to sift through a lot of trash to find the diamonds you are looking for.
Do not buy penny stocks that are so thinly traded that you anticipate having trouble selling your position in one trade unless exiting in stages is part of your penny stock trading strategy.
#5 - You can take huge losses on a penny stock trade. So true. In fact, if you don’t
learn how to calculate a company's cash flow
, you can lose your entire investment if it goes bankrupt while you are holding its shares.
Penny stocks are usually the shares of tiny little micro cap companies. They are usually just starting up and have not become stable yet. This is what makes trading them so exciting—and so risky.
As in all stock market investments; the greater the upside potential, the greater the downside risk. See
Penny Stock Trade Risk Management
for more explicit instructions for minimizing the risk. You can learn to trade penny stocks without fear just by reading the articles on this website.
