Medical Billing And Coding Certification
CMRS, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-P, CIRCC &CCS

Medical billing And coding certification is what online medical billing coding schools exist to prepare you for.

Don't be misled. Medical billing and coding schools do not

provide industry certification. They can only give you a certificate of completion of their course and prepare you for the AMBA and AAPC exams.

AMBA and AAPC medical billing and coding certification is what employers look for. They increase your ability to get desirable medical billing coding jobs

American Medical Billing Association (AMBA) Medical Billing Certificate Certificate

AMBA offers the CMRS or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist exam.

A medical billing certificate is not a legal requirement. It's a good idea to sit for the test anyway, as it will help you to obtain medical billing specialist jobs more quickly.

The CMRS Exam is divided into 16 Sections:

  • Medical Terminology
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Information Technology
  • Web and Information Technology
  • ICD-9-CM Coding
  • CPT-4 Coding
  • Clearinghouses
  • CMS 1500
  • Insurance
  • Insurance Carriers
  • Acronyms
  • Compliance
  • Fraud and Abuse
  • Managed Care
  • General
  • Case Study

  • You must be a member of AMBA to take the CMRS certification exam. The cost of a yearly individual membership is $99. The exam costs $325.

To keep the certification each year you must renew your AMBA membership and submit 15 Continuing Education Units(CEUs) to AMBA by your CMRS anniversary date.

American Association Of Professional Coders (AAPC)

    AAPC offers several credentials.

Increased regulation and reduction in payments to physicians has increased the demand for certified coders who can better capture revenue and minimize post-payment risk. Strong national recognition by employers makes AAPC certification a must.
