Type at Home Jobs

There are basically two types of home based clerical employment: data entry and virtual office assistant. If you are a fast and accurate typist, you will have no problem obtaining a data entry position. Virtual assistants make more money but the job requires additional clerical skills.

Home based jobs are more flexible than working away from the house but it would be misleading to say that you can work at your own pace. Most companies will have a deadline by which they need the completed work turned in. If you miss too many deadlines, they will find someone else to work with.

Turning in good work quickly will set you apart from your competition as most at home workers just do not understand the importance of meeting deadlines. If you meet or, better yet, beat them consistently, your clients will prefer to work with you and will even pay a little more to get you because they won't want to take a chance on someone else who might not turn the assignment in on time.

You will need your own computer which only you use as you may be entrusted with sensitive company information. You will need pretty good computer skills. Enough to keep your PC or laptop running smoothly so you can complete assignments on time. A second machine you can use as back up in an emergency might not be a bad idea.

A dedicated home office where you can work undisturbed is a plus. It doesn't have to be elaborate. A quiet room with a table you can work on and a comfortable chair is really all you need.

Companies may require you to take an online test before offering you a position.
