Fundamental and Technical Analysis

Basics of Stock Market Investing

Fundamental and technical analysis are the two types of analyses used in stock market predictions. All stock market trading systems rely on one or both methods. Technical and fundamental analysis software has been developed to make the necessary calculations for you.

The technical analysis of stock focuses mainly on stock share price history and stock market direction.

Share price analysis is performed using technical analysis charts which display the opening, high, low, and closing share price of a given security for each trading day within a designated time period.

Stock market trend or direction is determined using a multitude of trading indicators which also appear (or can be made to do at the click of a button) on stock charts.

Stock fundamental analysis focuses on a company's earnings, assets and debt. Investors who use this methodology also tend to look at how stock market companies stack up against their competitors and where they rank within their market sector.

The fundamental analysis of stocks attempts to determine the "true" current value of a security as opposed to trying to predict its future market price per share.

Any time a stock is selling for less than its true value, it is a good buy if you ascribe to a fundamental analysis investment strategy.
