Are There Legal Real Work From Home Jobs?
by Sandy K.
(New Haven, CT)
I would love to work from home. Lots of people would. If there are real legal work at home jobs, how come so many people keep going to jobs that make them miserable?
Please tell me the truth. Is there really any way to work from home and make enough money to live on? I hate my job and would love to quit and stay home with my kids.

I've been working from home for more than 15 years now. The opportunities are real enough if you know where to look for them.
I've never done anything illegal and I don't advise anyone else to either. There are plenty of legal ways to make money. People who participate in illegal schemes are usually trying to make A LOT of money really fast. There aren't any legal ways to do that. At least not that I'm aware of.
I understand your skepticism. I'm the only work from homer in my family or circle of friends. My neighbors are all skeptical about it.
This is something you will deal with constantly if you decide to pursue a work from home job. Most people will not believe you are "really" working.
In the U.S., working from home is something a lot of people want to do but only a small percentage of people actually do.
There are also a lot of work at home scams. In all my years of working out of my home, I've never been scammed once. I think this is because I have a pretty decent bullshi* detector.
I tend not to believe things that sound too good to be true and I research everything before I invest money or time in it. I would advise you to do the same.
There are many legitimate opportunities on this website.

Certain types of jobs are better suited to at home moms.
Moms That Work From Home would be a good place to start your search.
Another opportunity that is easy to do with small children is Becoming A Secret Shopper. You can take the kids along on most of your shops.
I'll be honest with you, a part time income is much easier to obtain when you are at home with the little ones. Their care will take up so much of your time that it may be hard for you to work enough hours to replace your present salary.
Most of the WAHMs I know of who are making full time incomes are virtual assistants. You didn't mention what you do for a living, but if you have at least two years of recent administrative or secretarial experience, you can Become A Virtual Assistant.
If you are persistent, I'm sure you'll find something that meets your needs.
